Step 2: On-Ramp Fundamentals Training

Ready to start CrossFit? All beginners must start with On-Ramp Training.

On-Ramp will bring your fitness up to speed and prepare you for class. Training will take one to six sessions.

You do not have to “get in shape” to start at CrossFit Providence

That’s our job and we’ll take you there.

Regardless of your fitness, CrossFit will help you achieve your goals. On-Ramp Training is what we call our CrossFit instruction to prepare you for your first CrossFit class. You can complete your On-Ramp training in 1 to 6 sessions. During On-Ramp, our certified CrossFit coaches will teach you how to CrossFit correctly and prevent injuries.  After On-Ramp, you will be able to complete any CrossFit workout scaled down.  Our On-Ramp course teaches all nine of the major CrossFit movements including:

Olympic Lifting: Deadlift, Clean, Snatch and Jerk with barbells, dumbells, kettlebells and sandbags
Gymnastic movements: Kipping pull-up, Muscle-up, Ring Dip, Rope Climb, Pistols and Box Jump
Kettlebell movements: Kettlebell swing, Sumo Deadlift High Pull
Squats: Overhead, Front and Back
Rowing technique

On-Ramp classes sell out! All new CrossFitters must receive On-Ramp training to learn how to CrossFit.  You will learn and workout in a small group setting of approximately 8-10 people.  For $75 you can attend either of the following scheduled On-Ramp Series:

Weekday On-Ramp: 6 classes held Mon/Wed/Thr from 730 – 830pm for 2 weeks. You must email us to enroll.  You can not reserve On-Ramp online.

Weekend On-Ramp: 4 classes held Sat/Sun from 1030 – 1200pm for 2 weeks. You must email us to enroll.  You can not reserve On-Ramp online.

All classes must be completed in order. Any weekday classes can be made up in the weekend series and vice versa.  If you can not make up your missed class in the other series, you will need to schedule a private class with a coach for $20 before the following class or wait until the next series.  To make up missed classes or schedule private classes email info@crossfitprovidence.com with your request.

Cost for the On-Ramp series is $75 with enrollment in a monthly autopay membership. Monthly membership will not be charged until completion of On-Ramp.  The 20% LEO/Fire/Military/Income discount does not apply to the On-Ramp fees.

Train according to YOUR schedule. Three 1.5-hour sessions for $105 with enrollment in our monthly autopay membership or personal training program. Personal Training On-Ramp is $210 if you choose not to enroll in a monthly auto-pay membership.  Email us to schedule an appointment.

For Experienced Athletes and Self-Starting CrossFitters Only. If you’ve been CrossFitting on your own or have trained as a competitive athlete, you can complete your On-Ramp training in 1 to 3 sessions.  First, come in and let us evaluate you at our Free Intro Class or schedule a private appointment with the CFP staff.   Depending on your experience, you could complete On-Ramp in 1 to 3 sessions.  Cost is $35/session with membership auto-pay enrollment ($70/session without auto-pay membership enrollment). Depending on the level of your prior experience, this can take up to three sessions.
