Projo Reunion Shape-Up Success Story

Three months after beginning their fitness regimen, Stephanie Riemer Meunier and her husband, Ray, and Rachel Menard, from left, plan to maintain their healthy lifestyle after the class reunions that inspired them.

“I can’t believe it is already over,” says Rachel Menard, the 27-year-old science teacher in Attleboro, who has lost a total of 17 pounds. “It is not technically over for me … just the beginning of my journey.”

“I have definitely lost several inches,” Riemer Meunier adds. “I have reduced my postpartum midsection by a good four or five inches. My arms and legs are noticeably leaner with more definition, so definitely inches there, too. I have gone down one full size in clothing. Not quite digging into the box of skinny clothes in the closet, but getting closer.”

Menard has made some new friends since the program began. Stephanie Meunier has become a partner in training, and she also has a new boyfriend, Mike. “He has been really supportive, cooking me Paleo dinners and bike riding with me. He said I look like a totally different person from when he first met me.”

Riemer Meunier has begun running in 5K races and also is getting the rest of her family involved in working out. Her husband says he’s playing soccer with the CrossFit staff at Teamworks in Warwick, so staying active is the plan for all of these participants.

They thanked The Providence Journal and CrossFit Providence for initiating the program, but really, there’s no need for thanks when we see the end results.  (Source: The Providence Journal / Pamela Reinsel Cotter / Kris Craig)

Lose Weight and Achieve Optimal Performance with The Paleo-Zone Diet

Actually, it’s more like a lifestyle than a diet.  We strongly believe in the Paleo-Zone Diet.  Our members are examples of its success and we have empirical research demonstrating its benefits. Many of our members have seen results in just a few weeks.  Try the Paleo-Zone for 4 weeks.  Worst case scenario – you ate four weeks of delicious food.  Best case – you will change your life forever.

Proper nutrition is the foundation to health, fitness, and performance.  It should not be looked at as a short term fix, like “extreme” and impractical diets. Proper nutrition is a life-long commitment. The nutrition program at CrossFit Providence centers on making the foods we were designed to eat through evolution the everyday norm.

What is Paleo?

A Paleo diet is one rich in nutrients and favors eating garden vegetables, especially greens, lean meats, nuts, seeds, minimal fruits, little starch and no sugar.  The USDA food pyramid has done nothing but wreaked havoc on the health of our country, and countries who follow a similar diet. The USDA food pyramid should be replaced by a Paleo Pyramid:

What is the Paleo-Zone Diet?

Following a Paleo Diet will lead to an increased fitness level, quality of life, and weight loss alone.  However, Paleo foods coupled with Zone Diet portioning, can enhance all of the above. The Zone Diet restricts the quantity of food you eat to a 40-30-30 ratio of carbohydrates-fat-protein. When the Zone diet’s 40-30-30 ratio is applied to the Paleo diet’s selection of foods, that’s when the magic happens.

Why is the Paleo-Zone Diet so Effective?

First, any diet can work. But, many diets are focused on calorie restriction, and high attrition rates as participants feel hungry all the time.  The Paleo-Zone Diet is different because it is practical. You get to eat delicious food and feel satisfied. Second, controlling your calories to the 40-30-30 ratio has proven to be the optimal balance for both performance and fat loss.

Do not be confused, the Paleo Diet is not a zero carb diet. You get an adequate amount of carbohydrates every day, however, in amounts which will not spike your insulin. By controlling your hormones, you control weight loss/gain and health.

We are offering you a way to eat until you are full, while losing weight. If you have tried other weight loss programs, and have quit, or put the weight back on, why go back to something that is not going to work for you again? Try the Paleo-Zone for 4 weeks and we know you’ll be happy.
